I had the pleasure tonight of joining a group of the Indyk Architects team at attending the opening of Miranda Events Cinemas.
Shelley Indyk, the director of Indyk Architects and the team managed to deliver an architectural language which enhanced the viewers experience by honing in on the details of the project. As architects we tend to forget the minor aspects of a project generally compromising in order to please third parties. Compromises are commonplace and not to be avoided, however a balance is required in order to create the perfect resolution. Architects are generally problem solvers, we engage the client, consultants and attempt to find the best solution.
Shelley was able to once again design and create a unique space catered for this specific spatial experience, through her diplomatic approach in balancing the integrity of the design and the reality of the project.
The end result was of theatrical delight, fitting for any cinema experience.
There is a lesson to be learnt here. Sometimes we are faced with challenges in creating a space, how we deal with it depends on how confident we are with the product we are trying to sell. A good designer will be firm on their decisions, which ultimately leads to credibility.
Well done Indyk Team.
